Arrive early (Shedd opens at 9 a.m.). Shedd is a popular place and can get crowded, especially on weekends, in the summer and on holidays. Sunday mornings, when the aquarium is least crowded, are a great time for relaxed family visits.

The small parking lot between Shedd and the Field Museum offers reserved accessible parking, as does the Soldier Field north garage. Shedd's bus turnaround, on the south side of the aquarium, is a convenient drop-off point, close to the accessible entrance, for those traveling with a driver.

No, you can skip the line. This ticket must be redeemed at the Will Call Desk in the main foyer when you arrive.

Can you bring a backpack to the Shedd Aquarium?

Any bag larger than 12”x 12”x 12” will not be permitted, with the exception of diaper bags and carriers for medical supplies. Bags, strollers, backpacks and packages are subject to inspection.

If I booked a ticket but want to visit at an earlier date instead, can I use the same ticket?

No. While the ticket is good for 3 months, it cannot be used before the date of your visit. However, we can help you by booking the ticket again for you at no extra cost.
